Recent Truck Upfit Projects & Custom Builds

These are real trucks we built for real customers, not stock photos. Each one started with a conversation about the work the truck had to do, and the equipment list came out of that. If you are trying to picture what your own build could look like, this is the closest thing to walking through our shop.

2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Custom – RaSmith

Custom Medium-Duty Wrecker

This new black Freightliner M2EC for Otto Towing & Recovery features a Chevron 512 12-Ton Medium Duty Wrecker, powered by a 300hp engine with Allison automatic transmission. It’s equipped with custom-installed Collins GX7 Heavy Duty Speed Dollies, including an extra fork package and towing attachments—built to handle light and medium duty towing with precision and reliability.

Service Body and Utility Builds

These builds turn a pickup or cab and chassis into a rolling job site. Locking compartments, ratchet straps, ladder racks, and E-track show up on most of them, and the layout changes with the trade. A water treatment crew needs pipe storage. An electrician needs drawers and shelving. The chassis matters less than getting the compartment plan right.

Dump and Landscape Builds

Dump bodies are the workhorse of construction, landscaping, and municipal fleets. The builds below pair dump and stake bodies with the accessories that keep a crew moving: fuel tanks and pumps, conduit carriers, side and saddle boxes, work lamps, and four-corner strobes for job site visibility.

Cargo Van and Cutaway Builds

Van builds live or die on the interior layout. Bulkheads, shelving units, parts cabinets, cab consoles, and ladder racks turn open cargo space into an organized parts room. When a technician can find a fitting without unloading half the van, every stop gets shorter.

Towing Builds

On the towing side, the body is only the start. Speed dollies, fork packages, towing attachments, and lighting all get installed and wired in the same build, and graphics go on before the truck leaves. Operators tell us what they run and where the controls need to be, and the truck gets finished around that.

Graphics, Lighting, and Branding

Custom graphics, roof light bars, strobe systems, and power inverters show up across most of these builds. Doing graphics in the same shop that mounted the equipment means the layout works around racks and boxes instead of getting cut in half by them.

What Goes Into a Build Like These

Every project on this page followed the same path. We started by asking what the truck had to do, put together a written quote with the equipment and the timeline spelled out, scheduled the build, and did the work in our own bays. Nothing went to an outside shop and came back a week late. That is the part customers tell us matters most, more than any single piece of equipment on the list.
